Molly Rose Heller is a SoCal born (sun-fearing) Jew and NYC-based theatre artist. You’ll find her working on staging the impossible - usually new plays and musicals or queer adaptations of the classics. Molly is the Senior Writer at UNSHUT, an immersive transmedia experience blending theater, AI, VR/AR, and game design. Her most recent play Hamster Medea was workshopped at the Alliance for Jewish Theatre’s TheatreMacher Lab. Her acting credits include A Bright Room Called Day (upcoming), Design for Living (Berkshire Theatre Group) and Imagining the Imaginary Invalid (La MaMa).
Molly graduated Magna Cum Laude with Departmental Honors for a B.A. in Theatre and Drama Arts from Columbia University and a B.A. in Modern Jewish Studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. She is a Resident Artist at Ars Nova (Makers Lab), recent Artist-in-Residence at the cell theatre, Directors Lab North alum, former Artist-in-Residence at the Upper Jay Art Center’s CA+MP Residency, alum of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation Observership Program, former Apprentice at the Berkshire Theatre Group, and former member of the BAT Resident Company at the Flea Theater. Molly was named to New York Jewish Week’s “36 to Watch” List, which honors remarkable Jewish innovators.
She is a proud SDC Associate Member and member of Actors Equity Association. When she isn’t making art, Molly is an organizational leader passionate about equitable access to education in her work as Director of Strategy and Learning with sister organizations Prestige Prep and Dugmah. Molly spends her free time officiating Bar and Bat Mitzvah Ceremonies, building with LEGO bricks, and cuddling with her cat named Babadook.
